Boudoir Self-Portraits in vintage 1920s styled room | Kara Pesznecker The Sensual PhotographerA few weeks ago I announced that The Sensual Photographer had added a new member to the creative team to help with set styling and posing coaching. Angela is a great addition to The Sensual Photographer and last week we got a chance to really put her talents into action. We took on the task of creating a vintage set in my guest bedroom for a shoot with a local Portland burlesque performer Wanda Bones (sorry guys I can’t share these photos yet). We wanted it to have the feel of a 1920s opium den and this was the inspirational image we kept coming back to.

Angela has a real eye for selecting just the right items to give a space a truly authentic feel and in the end we created a beautiful, textural paradise. Since I posted the behind the scenes of Wanda Bones’ session I have been getting lots of interest in boudoir sessions in the space. This gave me an idea, I am going to keep the set up for the month of July for Boudoir Mini Sessions! If you have been on the fence about doing a boudoir session this is a great way to take a leap and get a little taste of what a full session would be like!

Here is what the session includes,

$250

  • Hair and makeup
  • On set posing coach
  • One outfit (additional outfits can be added for $50 each)
  • In person reveal session
  • 5 fully edited digital images ($375 value)
  • 10% off all additional products purchased

This special rate applies only to sessions in the vintage 1920s set, all other sessions will be at the standard rate. Boudoir Self-Portraits in vintage 1920s styled room | Kara Pesznecker The Sensual Photographer

I even loved the set so much that I decided it was time for me to get back in front of the camera and do some self-portraits. In college I used to do a lot of self-portrait work. It wasn’t always easy to find models so I started to photograph myself. It was always a fun and creative process that taught me a lot about myself and photography. Boudoir Self-Portraits in vintage 1920s styled room | Kara Pesznecker The Sensual Photographer

Now it is almost 10 years after taking my first self-portrait and I am back in front of the camera. I truly believe as a boudoir photographer that it is important to stand behind my message of self love and acceptance. Back in November I decided I was going to focus on taking care of my body. I joined my friend Dorothy’s Beach Body challenge group and started my journey of exercising daily, developing clean eating habits and living an all around healthy life style. It has been an amazing experience. The women in my group keep me motivated, I have more energy and I feel healthier everyday. These are all great things, but I would be kidding myself if the ultimate goal wasn’t weight loss. Not only have I not lost weight, I have actually gained some! I know, I am probably losing fat and gaining muscle, I get this logically, but when the scale isn’t moving it can be rather frustrating. Taking these photos was a great reminder that I am still gorgeous all 155 lbs of me. I hear it all the time “I will book a session when I loose this last 10 lbs,” but if I had waited to take these pictures until I had lost that 10 lbs I would have missed out on seeing that I look great right now, just the way I am.

Here I am, a little baby 19 year old, judging by this picture it is no wonder I ended up becoming a boudoir photographer.
